View: Before you start thinking about what you want to do in Engelberg, first sit down on the shores of Lake Eugeni and enjoy the view of the mountains around the village - among others Hahnen, Wissberg or Widihorn. Engelberg is a municipality in the canton of Obwalden in central Switzerland. The place goes back to the Benedictine Engelberg Abbey founded in 1120. In 1898 Engelberg was opened from Stansstad with the Stansstad-Engelberg-Railway, an electric rack railway.
