Description: Location: Riding uphill and downhill from Guttannen (BE) to Gletsch (VS) passing the Grimselpass
Direction: Guttannen - Grimselpass - Gletsch
Degree of difficulty: easy, wide two lane road with good tarmac on the Bernese side, more bumby sections on the Valais side, on both sides of the pass are many hairpin bends with fine tarmac.
View: The Grimsel Pass connects the Bernese Oberland with the Upper Valais. If you reach 2164 meters over sea level don't forget to look back. Far below you see the village of Gletsch and towards you the Furka Pass. Gletsch consists of the 'Hotel Glacier du Rhône', a train station and a former petrol station. After the photo session you have different options to make a stop for a snack: The 'Alpenlodge Grimselpass', the 'Hotel Grimsel Passhöhe' or the 'Alpenrösli'. On the Bernese side of the pass you find the 'Grimsel Hospiz' with a view of Lake Grimsel and the surrounding mountains. Source Wikipedia
